The Nitro Skylab TLS Snowboard Boot serves two purposes: To be the lightest splitboarding boot on the market and be an amazing all-day, any day all-mountain snowboarding boot. Because let's be honest, most people go splitboarding less then they go to the resort, so it would be great to reduce consumption by creating a boot that is versatile enough to be good for both! The Vibram® Ecostep™ outsole, 3D fly knit-material on the toe, reinforced toe cap, and molded spine protector provide the durability and protection that everyone needs for split boarding and hiking on slippery or icy surfaces. The internal ankle support and Hike n Ride Construction offer the ability to flex the spine of your boot naturally when you're hiking up on the skin trail with negative forward lean on your bindings, making it more comfortable and efficient traveling up-hill. All these features make the Skylab the lightest snowboard split boot on the market- and it still is an awesome resort boot. Support Rating (1 = soft, 10 = responsive) 7 Liner Cloud 8 Liner Pre-molded Thermacell offers a minimum weight and maximum comfort Latex Memory Pads for a lifetime heel fit Flex Toe expands for custom toe box fit Construction E-foam® Toe Protection In cooperation with Lorenzi, an Italian partner, Nitro decided to use E-foam. E-foam is an innovative material, very light yet, at the same time, extremely resistant to abrasion. It has been conceived as an ecologic alternative to rubber and PVC, and grants better protection for the foot while extending the life of the boot. Light, comfortable, strong and flexible even in the most severe conditions. Hike 'N' Ride Construction A construction made specifically for making the transition and performance between hike and rode mode easier and more beneficial for the rider (together with the forward lean adjustment and auto power strap). Hike mode offers a softer flex and ride mode is more responsive and rigid flex. Flex Link Design A flexible panel at the ankle between the upper and lower shell ensures an even flexing, responsive boot without the bulk. Armored Spine Nitro uses an anatomically shaped and 3D molded heel reinforcement to provide even boot flex and long-lasting heel fit. Internal Ankle Support An anatomically shaped molded plate distributes lace pressure over the instep/ankle area: More comfort and a better, more precise fit. Lacing TLS (Twin Lacing System) Nitro, leading the pack with the TLS lacing system: Easy lace engagement and release, combined with the low abrasion of Dyneema® laces are the key factors of this highly reliable zonal lacing system. At the same time, TLS features compact size and low weight while maintaining the reliability proven by tens of thousands of days on the mountain. Servicing and replacement of parts, though rarely needed, is easier than with any other system on the market, and in a pinch you can even use a standard lace. Easy-entry handle storage pockets as well as the Bail Out system for easier entry and exit round off the most developed dual lacing system on the market. Molded TLS Lace Handles Bail Out System Designed to make unlacing the TLS system even easier. This pull tab that is placed in the middle of the TLS lacing system on the outside of the boot allows for effortless unlacing and record breaking speeds for taking your boots off. 45° Laceglider This precision-molded low-friction plastic insert is positioned at the crucial 45° lacing position in the ankle area. It drastically reduces lace friction and makes tying up your TLS system even easier. ILS (Internal Lacing System) The ILS system features a lacing harness firmly connected to the boot shell. This harness snugly wraps around the liner, securing it in the shell and providing precise lacing and fit. Nitro's engineered ILS laces provide less friction and a Dyneema® core for added strength. Re/Lace Liner Locker Another innovation from the friendly R and D department at Nitro: the Re/Lace Liner Locker provides easy adjustability of your inner boot lacing when your boot shell is already tightened (tied), by just pulling up on the lace handle. This allows you to (re)tighten your liner and foothold throughout the day (whenever you may find yourself on the mountain) without having to untie your boot. Insole Ortholite® Dual Density Footbed for top notch control and cushioning Midsole EVA Midsole Used on all boots with rubber outsoles, the EVA midsole reduces the overall weight and provides cushioning and thermal insulation. Therminator Shield This thermal layer between the sole and liner will reflect your body heat and keep your feet warm all day. Outsole Vibram® Outsole made of Vibram® Ecostep™ Compound Vibram grip and traction and an Eco-friendly approach: here is the new sole of Nitro. Made of Vibram® Ecostep™ Compound, an eco-friendly recycled rubber compound developed by Vibram® and made of up to 50% recycled rubber. The rubber scrap generated by Vibram's production process is recycled in order to produce Vibram® Ecostep™ Compound. It's a High-quality compound formulation, which offers a very good Vibram grip and traction on snow while preserving the environment through the waste reduction. Weight N/A
